I really get the feeling that Joplin Rice's albums have been building to this point. It's not afraid to sprawl and lash out, or to be sentimental and quiet. It all feels cohesive, taking you into its world and not letting you leave until it's done. It makes all of these indulgences without becoming tiring... It really reminds me of the best 90s indie rock.
