This album is my most recent obsession. Liz's vocals with the charming NZ accent, the background vocals, the guitar tone (!), the thoughtful and infinitely interesting melodies and the raw but perfected songs combine to make this an absolutely killer of an album from start to finish. I am EATING this album UP right now. What a gem of a recording.

The Courtneys have such a sweet and amazing sound. I can't quite identify what it is about their music that I find so completely endearing, but I absolutely love it. The combination of fuzzy guitars and driving beats along with Jen's vocals (and a hint of 80's nostalgia) make the Courtneys one of the bands I never tire of and look forward to hearing more from. This album has made the the lengthy wait since their last release worthwhile.

    Saucepan Saucepan
Julia and the guys never fail to please. It's been great fun to watch their musical evolution over the past several years and I'm always delighted with what they produce. This album once again combines Julia's whimsical style and fearless vocal talents with unexpected tones and chord changes that make the ears prick up and force you to crank the volume. A fan of tempo and time signature changes? Check out Saucepan for the win!

I was delighted and surprised to hear Claire doing lead vocals on "Love Is". There's something really enchanting about a band that can trade off vocal duties between a male and female singer. It's also really great to hear a track that meanders beyond the typical 3 minutes. Hearing the band jam out is very groovy. Nice work, Dude York.

This album is bright and whimsical with keyboard-infused pop and a hint of prog. The occasional deep growly tones bring tears to my eyes and Julia's voice simply SHINES throughout. J-mass and the FFD are the best band of the new millennium, hands down. This is another masterpiece in a string of masterpieces. Songcrafting that speaks to my heart.

    Flower Child Flower Child
This album is really well done. It's raw and natural and sincere. It's slightly solemn -- but not too much -- and fits a rainy-day mood perfectly. There's an anti-pop style to the music that is quite endearing and I love it. I've listened to this EP dozens of times and it never really gets old. Wish I could hear more from Brooke and the rest of the band.

Bottom of the Ocean Bottom of the Ocean
This album is absolute musical genius. Julia and the guys have created a unique take on progressive rock/indie pop. The songs are delicate, but strong, they're well-crafted and deliberate, but they're not pretentious. There are sounds and chord changes that will bring tears to your eyes and put you back in your seat.

This album demands careful listening and will reward you for your attention. Easily one of my favorite albums ever. Tireless and timeless.

    I can't say enough in 500 words!
