sinning soul demo | rough sinning soul demo | rough
All the delicacy and fury of time drenched in reverb. There's something old about this album of demos and I don't mean old as in overdone or "folky" sounding. I mean that it sounds like it's seeping from the earth, a haunting overtone to our landscape. I can hear roots, blues, and country roots but none of those words can hold it. I look forward to what is to come from Veda Woolf.

    Snow Snow
From a landscape that has found its shape in music history with a bottleneck slide and moan comes something completely different but just as complimentary to the muggy Mississippi summer. From the anthem Snow to the melancholy, heartfelt Unusual Death to the unflinching joy yet insecure drone of Going On; Young Whispers is a beautiful summer album.

    Hey Hey Hey Hey
I think the feel of this album can be summed up by the line from Ain't No Gold "So I punched my shoes and tied my teeth and I headed out into the dirty, dirty streets." Beautifully unnerving at one moment and delightfully haunting the next. The roar of the banjo and holler from the group makes a lovely pair. Gingerbred Whores also has one of my new favorite horn parts of all time.
