A eulogy for an era that I don't remember. The events of September 11th permanently broke the American way of life, and indirectly lead to the uber paranoid, jingoistic dialogue that chokes political discussion today. This album is a time capsule to a simpler time, when McDonald's was a pleasure rather than a necessity, and nothing was really dangerous or hard. Does exactly what vaporwave is supposed to do, invoke nostalgia for a time while simultaneously critiquing it.
  41. CHAM!
    by マクロスMACROSS 82-99
Essential future funk. If Sailorwave and Hit Vibes invented future funk, then Cham! perfected it. An essential album for anybody interested in the development of vaporwave as a genre.

Beautiful, calming mallsoft, but it's 猫 シ Corp, you already knew that. If you like Palm Mall, but are looking for something jazzier, this is the place to stop.

Feeling suicidal is a thing nowadays Feeling suicidal is a thing nowadays
The first "vaporwave" album I've ever heard that is nearly impossible to categorize. Borrowing the lush sound of Macintosh Plus, the massive drums of Blank Banshee, and the twitchiness found in some Thom Yorke tracks, this album is an interesting, surprising listen from beginning to end.
