  1. Binary Dream
    by Turbulence
Turbulence is quickly becoming one of my favourite Prog Metal Bands. It can be hard to follow up a great debut album (Frontal) but these guys have done it.

This album is not short on ambition. The title track is Epic in length and quality. Some prog bands in the bid to be as technical as possible forget emotion. Corrosion is one of the saddest songs I've heard this year.

    Implosion Overture Implosion Overture
This band is a combination about everything I love about prog metal. They have the hard hitting riffs but they come into their own back it off.

Clearly these guys have been working on this for a long time and every song, key change and idea is well thought out.

A special mention to mix on this album. Many albums are dominated by guitars and drums but on this album the bass and keys are treated with the respect they deserve.
Also great vocals on a Prog album is a rarity.
  12. Reincarnate
    by Sebastiside
    Reincarnate (Instrumental) Reincarnate (Instrumental)
For such a young artist to nail such a difficult genre on their debut is an incredible effort.

This EP is intense from start to finish with some hard hitting riffs while still giving a chance for melody. It is reminiscent of Shokran.

I can't wait to see how Sebasticide's music develops.
  13. Final Pitch
    by Arch Echo
    Gold Dust Gold Dust
Arch Echo play with precision of Prog Metal but have a element of fun about their music. Parts of this album were released over a number of years and yet it is a very cohesive album.

They tried a few different things this album which included vocals which was a great choice.

My favourite is Gold Dust because they build the song around a great riff that builds up with each introduction. The pay off is just perfect. Not many bands can pull something like this off.
  14. Ad Astra
    by The Resonance Project
Prophecy (feat. Aaron Janik) Prophecy (feat. Aaron Janik)
The Resonance Project has really stepped it up with this prog album. Prophecy is a standout song that I can get enough of. It has a retro "Stranger Things" vibe cross with heavy prog riff with some eclectic trumpet added in. They ended up creating a song that sounds incredible and is truly unique. I haven't been this excited about a new band in a long time.

The Anthem (feat. Taso Comanescu, Bubby Lewis, Yo Onityan & Ziyin Zhao) The Anthem (feat. Taso Comanescu, Bubby Lewis, Yo Onityan & Ziyin Zhao)
Prog is difficult to get right the first time around and these guys have done a very good job. They have shown they have the skills and talent to be a great band. They tick some really good prog boxes in terms of length, technical difficult within a song.
This album demonstrates that they have the talent but it "Ad Astra" their follow up album that really demonstrates that they will become a great band.
  16. Away With Words, Part 2
    by Angel Vivaldi
    Six ( _ . . . . ) Six ( _ . . . . )
After almost a decade I had given up that their would be a part 2. This album is more chill than part 1 and is his most unique album to date. I like this new direction that he is working. Whereas part 1 seems similar to a number of artists out there, this album is far more unique. Six is an amazing track and really shows off his versatility.

  20. About Time
    by Aidan Black
Polarity (feat. RO1) Polarity (feat. RO1)
Aidan Black is a promising young Prog Metal guitarist who shows a lot of potential on this album. He has created his own unique style while borrowing ideas from many others.
This album is a who's who of talented young musicians around Melbourne, Australia. Ro1 is amazing keyboardist and David Parkes is one of the best drummers I've seen.
I love where Aidan is heading with this music and hopefully this is the beginning of long career.
