I don't know whether it was cooler when I thought this was part of some Buffalo freak scene or when I realized that it was part of the freak scene that is Alpha Hopper. 'cause this is just some real cool trash.
I love it when an album that is not my usual thing hits so hard. Great songs and instrumentation all around; I especially love the guitar stutter on Floreal over the chiptune rhythm track.
This one also took me a while to get into. It strikes me as less HC than Untitled and less poppy than Ultrapop (stupid I know). Let's call this the No Wave record. Its musical (and amusical) density is matching the persistent sound in my head right now.
Like Baltimore or the car fire on the cover this combines grimness (industrial elements) and beauty (strong songs) in a way that's ugly, gothic, and dark without becoming either unlistenable or a cartoon of itself.
