  1. Radical Man
by The Lord Weird Slough Feg
    Highway Corsair Highway Corsair
Scalzi and co at their best, like getting another new Feg album! The songs that were bonus tracks on the OG s/t are a joy to finally own on vinyl, and having Radical Man as something other than a crappy MP3 rip rules.
  2. Gambler
    by Buzzard
Really cool classic speed metal, Dying Victims did a great job with the reissue!
  3. Tension - Decay
    by Dying Victims Productions
Age of the Stars Age of the Stars
Really dig how this band takes one of my favorite sounds- that of the classic Swedish heavy metal scene- and updates it with a more technical, aggressive edge to sound fresh while still hitting all my buttons. Great stuff!
  4. Lonesome Gambler
    by Spectre
Will Fried strikes again! More killer material from Tasmania's heavy metal master!
  5. Hollow Psalms
    by Ludicra
Such an underrated, amazing album. Black metal majesty for the ages!
  6. Hands of Goro
    by Hands of Goro
    Demonizer Demonizer
Whimsical, weird, wonderful- all the strange metal spirit in the longtime San Francisco tradition of Slough Feg and Brocas Helm, directed in a somewhat more pounding and rhythmic way. I've been describing them to friends as "early (VERY early) Exodus trying to write Slough Feg songs" and that's a crappy description but Goro is unique enough that a good one is impossible. Buy this immediately. Hail Goro.
  7. The Annihilation of the Annealids
    by Lightbreaker
Ambitious with a fun story, great songwriting, and mean riffs- what's not to love? If you're open-minded and willing to get a little alien this is well worth your time.
  8. Glory
    by By Fire and Sword
Leave a Little Room Leave a Little Room
Praise be the glory that set me free of all the lack of riffs and sick power metal in my 2023 before this release, and all the demons of not-catchy-enough heavy metal that have been pulling at me. Thanks to God, The Honorable Reverend, and Brother Jeffrey that I can let the fiery light of this album fill me. Amen!
  9. The Caliginous Serenade
    by ACERUS
Daniel the riffmaster strikes again! Dense, bizarre composition, heavy layering, gorgeous atmospheric lead work and a sense of melody that only Corchado could do combine with Pena's distinct vocals for another amazing and unique heavy metal album. The entire band is at their best here and I couldn't be more pleased- truly, here we have heavy metal at its best!
  10. LORDS OF QUARMALL / POWER CASTLE SPLIT
    by GatesofHellRecords
Weird metal unites! Massive Olympia power!
  11. Dark Parade
    by Cirith Ungol
I never thought that we'd even get a Cirith Ungol reunion at one point, let alone new music. Getting not only new music but new music that legitimately stands up to their classic 1980s material- even surpassing some of it- is an absolute pleasure.
  12. The Isle of Hydra (Alternate Mix / Remastered 2023)
    by TWISTED TOWER DIRE
When the Daylight Fades When the Daylight Fades
One of my favorite heavy metal albums of all time sounding better than ever. What more could I ask?
  13. Treacherous Ways
    by Helms Deep
    Annihilation Annihilation
What a blast from the past- feels like a forgotten USPM album from 1984! Great mix of cool leadwork, insane vocals, and a sort of sneering toughness that you don't really find anywhere after the earlier Griffin and Nasty Savage stuff. This hits a mood that I usually need to go back to my favorite classic albums for and I am here for it. Highly recommended for fans of Attacker, Liege Lord, Griffin, etc.
  14. SCEPTRE
    by Vision Master
Weird metal ultimate power! Washington strikes again!
  15. Brace For Impact
    by Colony Drop
Stand Against The World Stand Against The World
Raging metalpunk madness that hits just about every box for me! Crazy dual lead shredding, romping heavy metal riffs, raging melodic hardcore, and angry crossover thrash spitting about all my favorite things: this is the total package! I was sold hard the first time I saw them live and the album completely lives up to that jaw-dropping show.
  16. The Orange Album
    by Cirith Ungol
Though they'd undoubtedly go on to do better things (and even to do some better re-recordings of some of these songs!) this is a fun romp through a time when heavy metal meant something different than it does now. The best band's beginnings still shine strong even after all these years!
  17. Twisted Tower Dire / Cauldron Born - Knights of True Metal
by Twisted Tower Dire / Cauldron Born
After years of loving both of these demos it's such a pleasure to have these killer remastered versions sitting here in front of me on vinyl! Pure mystical epic magic- Howie was the one that coined the release title and I don't think anything could have summed it up better!
  18. IV: Sacrament
    by Wytch Hazel
Wytch Hazel can do no wrong! Yet another incredible album!
  19. Cascades of Crimson Cruor
    by Veriluola
    Regal Barbarism Regal Barbarism
Excellent primitive black/death stuff from before the dawn of time! All the killer melodicism from their heavy metal infatuation mixed with the graven rhythms of ancient black metal. Really lives up to the promise from the demo!
  20. Scream Bloody Gore (Reissue)
    by Death
    Zombie Ritual Zombie Ritual
What's there to say about this that hasn't been said? Big favorite of mine, incredibly catchy but still really chunky and mean. Some of the best vocals ever in death metal, too, love Chuck's voice on those early albums!
