it feels like a punch in the gut, but a relief as well, a release while not becoming overly confessional. it’s the gristle and the marrow, other themes in her songs. the harder to metabolize parts that some of us try to hide and become disconnected from. when i listen to her songs i know that i’ve experienced relationships that stuck with me and lingered on me before too, but to be able to write it down, sing it out, and share it with other people feels like a spell
