  1. Irkalla
    by Aronious
    Enkidu Enkidu
Extremely technical, packed with neat little details and, thanks to Kevin's more approachable/straight-forward drumming, a real joy. Strongly recommended for fans of tech-death willing to invest some time ;)
  2. Labyrinth of Hungry Ghosts
    by Arkaik
To Summon Amoria To Summon Amoria
Arkaik have been a power-house in tech-death for quite some time now. Their latest album is as always a technical master-piece. But this time around, I find it more approachable and instantly enjoyable.
  3. Driving Insane
    by black sun empire
    Arrakis Arrakis
One of the best electronic albums in existence! Oozing with atmosphere and just exploding with energy.
  4. Divine Council
    by Psycroptic
A Fragile Existence A Fragile Existence
Another phenomenal album of one of the very best technical death metal bands.
Song writing, atmosphere, production - everything is phenomenal.
The female vocals are once again a great addition when they pop up.
What is most noticeable to me as a drummer is the evolution of the drums over the past albums. This album especially is so full of fun details and accents. All while being more powerful than ever before.
A true masterpiece! Thank you Psycroptic!
  5. Chaosmos
    by Origin
Origin continue on the path they have walked since they found a stable line-up.
Fast, technical, yet well composed and fun to listen to. With the occasional throw-back to older Origin releases.
If you liked Unparalleled Universe, chances are you'll also love this.
If you prefer their early work, it might be worth a look, as well.
If you come in expecting another Antithesis, this is not it. Their style has evolved beyond that. Whether that's a good thing lies in the eye of the beholder...
  6. Bleed the Future
    by Archspire
Just mind blowing. Archspire have become genre-defining.
Not just through incredible speed and technicality, but because they manage to utilize those elements as parts of their phenomenal song-writing.
Anyone who is even remotely interested in Tech Death will have a blast with this!
  7. Ylem
    by Sunless
Sunless deliver one hell of a follow-up to Urraca - once again with a very unique aesthetic, perfect recording quality and challenging song-writing.

As to be expected from this genre, the album is demanding and, at least for me, requires quite a lot of runs before I can fully appreciate the songs with all their details. But it's clear from the first moments that this album is worth investing the time!
  8. Nihil Quam Vacuitas Ordinatum Est [Remaster Full Dynamic Range DR11, 24bit]
    by AD NAUSEAM
My Buried Dream My Buried Dream
One of the best albums of the genre now in even better sound quality - a must have in my opinion!

That said, I already liked the original version - in terms of sound quality it's already top notch! However this album is so good that it's absolutely worth it to own it's best version in a lossless format ;)
  9. Imperative Imperceptible Impulse [Full Dynamic Range DR11]
    by AD NAUSEAM
A worthy follow-up to their stellar debut album and a great package overall. Production quality really shines - you can hear the amount of work they put into finding the right sound for their instruments and the way they recorded the album really does their sound justice!
Also: You receive a free copy on bandcamp when buying the physical CD. Thank you very much Ad Nauseam! :)

  11. Vision Wallows In Symphonies Of Light
    by Ingurgitating_Oblivion
Amid the offal, abide with me Amid the offal, abide with me
This needs some time to sink in. But once it does it's a one-of-a-kind experience. Complex, atmospheric and absolutely worth checking out.
Very much looking forward to seeing what IO are working on right now!
  12. Darkness Transcend
    by Setentia
    Darkness Transcend Darkness Transcend
Dark, yet comforting atmosphere, great production and very interesting song writing. Great mix of lighter and darker passages. This rocks!
  13. Outlands
    by SUNNATA
    The Ascender The Ascender
Fanstastic atmosphere. Absolutely unique and so, so addictive! Anyone remotely interested in doom/sludge should check this band out :)
  14. Phylogenesis
    by Abysmal Dawn
  15. Stare Into Death And Be Still
    by Ulcerate
    Visceral Ends Visceral Ends
My God - is there no limit to their brilliance?!

Somehow they manage to reinvent themselves with every album, giving each release a distinct feel without losing their identity. This is shaping up to be yet another phenomenal piece of art.

Speaking of art: The artwork is really lovely as well :)

    by Sunless
Wishes Fallen on Deafened Ears Wishes Fallen on Deafened Ears
Unique atmosphere, crystal clear production and a really great sense of flow help this album stand out. The song-writing is top-notch!

    Very, very enjoyable!
