Easily my top album of 2019, and it's still the one to beat in 2020. A comparison to Opeth is facile, but unavoidable, and in my estimation Wilderun picked up the torch of progressive metal that Opeth set down after releasing Watershed in 2008.
Veil of Imagination feels *composed*; it's greater than simple a succession of riffs, and so sounds symphonic not just in orchestration, but in its structure as well. Its quiet parts are intimate, and its big hits melt your face off.
