While I can listen to many of the influences of these musicians (bits of Mike Oldfield, Soft Machine, Henry Cow, etc.), this material is very much its own. Markus has composed a mathematical grid of sound which maps throughout the piece. The execution is akin to a symphony orchestra following a pre-determined path of exploration. As my friend Frank Hadlich said elsewhere, it gives the music a claustrophobic feel to it: It's structured, melodic and intense music. A fascinating voyage.
