I am impressed as always by Eagle Eye's sheer power and his ability to communicate his fears and desires and joy. Plus, the wa he sounds is a killer! Gimme a pound of raw blues - gimme an Eagle Eye record. That simple.

I love it because it is different. Many artists fell into the trap of playing the same song all over again. TMZZ didn't copy their first EP which is close to genius. This EP is quieter, more complex, more clever, more smart and very, very entertaining. I'm just so glad that they were brave enough to move ahead. Very strong, excellent material!

Just Let Go Just Let Go
I cannot not love a guy whose song starts like "Woke up today and decided to kill my ego/It aint ever done me no good no how."
Many accolades are given here, so I join the line like this: his album made my head spin, his songs punched me to the wall and his words kept me there. Thanks, man, and the title of your next album should be: Hypermetamodern Sounds in Country Music.

I don't know what these guys are taking but I need to get some of that. Amazing, ambitious, rambunctious and plain crazy - if I were a musician these guys would be my aim with their creativity, energy and plain craziness. But I am not, so pleeaaase let me have some of the stuff they are taking - whatever it is! And meanwhile, more music because this is not nearly enough.

Tito & Tarantula, please do move over and give way to these crazy Mexicans (?). This is the perfect soundtrack to Don Winslow's The Power of the Dog - or any novel by Winslow. Garage and blues and even some rockabilly. The perfect mix.

Eagle Eye is as raw as it comes, yet sophisticated in a very sublime way... Come on. Enough of this. Eagle Eye blew me away. I like my blues raw and hard. This is raw and hard. Plus he does it all himself. He takes me for a ride that I never want to end.

I think Paul could sing anything and I would be his fan. He really puts his heart and soul into every song - that is why he deserves his place among the greatest of soul singers like Wilson Picket and Solomon Burke and Otis Redding but for me St. Paul and The Broken Bones mean way more. The thing is, I can't tell you why. Probably because Paul means what he sings and by doing so he touches something deep inside me. No praise can be high enough for them.
