    Metamorphosis Metamorphosis
A personal journey, an autobiography, a reflection. Peripeteia is all that and more. This is black metal sans frontiérs incorporating 70s prog keyboards, a healthy bit of anthemic chord progressions, but never losing sight of the genre's original oppressive atmosphere.

Thanks for sharing your story Zach.
  6. Pacific Myth (Official Release)
    by Protest the Hero
    Caravan Caravan
    An interesting experiment.

Protest the Hero pushes beyond their comfort zone into uncharted waters. If there is a precursor in their catalog, it would be Scurrilous: less emphasis on showmanship and more on songwriting. The final song "Caravan" is definitely their most adventurous opus yet.
  7. Kezia (Remaster)
    by Protest the Hero
Turn Soonest To the Sea Turn Soonest To the Sea
It sounds corny but this album means a lot to me.

A concept drama about the lives of Kezia, a priest, and a prison guard. It is a bit too ambitious for it's own good, yet it manages to strike a balance between technical skill and catchy hooks.

Hard to believe the band was barely out of their teens when they finished this album!

The Bottomless Perdition The Bottomless Perdition
Taking a page from those old cassette tapes your uncle had when he was a metalhead in the early 90s, this demo by Tomb Mold perfectly captures the grimy, unnerving old-school death metal sound a la the classic Swedish scene (think Grave, not In Flames) and the Finnish scene.

Forewarning: after listening you might need a shower

A love letter to A. Lunn's home state of Kentucky featuring bluegrass instruments and lyrics on Kentucky's colorful history such as the famous Harlan County miners' strike.

Cohesive, majestic, and yet very personal.
