    Infirm Infirm
Coming almost out of nowhere, Pettersson are nothing short of breathtaking. The band's debut LP reveals harsh and at the same time beautiful soundscapes, interwoven with heart wrenching vocals, demonstrating the best atmospheric screamo currently has to offer. If you were to listen to one record from this genre this year, definitely make it this one.

    Y.O.T.H. Y.O.T.H.
Seamlessly transitioning between dreamy vocals and stirring punk rhythms, kometa's new EP is simply joyful to listen to. They offer a distinct sound, catchy, at times raw, not shying away from trying new things. Also, Jakob's and Lisa's singing complements each other beautifully! A great release for sure.

Incredible new release by members of Alpinist. Politically involved, musically my current favorite from this genre!

A departure from their previous records, "Dreamliner" is an eerie masterpiece. A beautiful ride through 40 minutes of goose bumps.

Such a beautiful album. Damien is probably my favorite singer-songwriter right now.

Côte du Py Côte du Py
This has been an almost instant buy after the record was released online a couple of hours ago. One of the most inspiring bands from this genre to keep an eye on - anyone who had the chance to witness one of their shows (or one of their previous bands) would agree.

Definitely my favorite screamo-release from 2014. A great album from start to end, I particularly love the contrast between the slow and faster parts.

These guys go out with a bang. Hope that the hiatus will be temporary, in any case, all the best to them! Feels like a very coherent album, a more than worthy successor to The Unexamined Life and There Is No Neutral.

Weird record, in a very good way. A very unique sound in this genre IMO, mainly due to the tone of the guitar and the distorted vocals. Watch out for these guys!

    Orphan Orphan
Svffer's sophomore release is an exciting, heavy burst of raw energy. Incredible vocals, smart guitar work and very fitting drums already make it a definite candidate for AOTY.
