  1. A Crow Looked At Me
    by Mount Eerie
    Ravens Ravens
Heartbreaking and beautiful. This album will make you mourn for someone that you don't even know.
  2. Either/Or
    by Elliott Smith
Between The Bars Between The Bars
So raw and emotional. The minimalistic instrumentation of fingerpicked guitar and Elliott's hushed vocals give me goosebumps. To label this album as just, "depressing", is incredibly limiting. It's an absolute masterpiece. So much talent in one man, gone too soon.
  3. Rock And Roll Night Club
    by Mac DeMarco
She's Really All I Need She's Really All I Need
Giving me such retro vibes. It's nice to hear how much Mac has progressed since this album.
  4. Charmer
    by tigers jaw
    Hum Hum
Kinda reminds me of Bright Eyes' early work, lyrically. Just more indie-rock instrumentation.
  5. The Age of Adz
    by Sufjan Stevens
    Impossible Soul Impossible Soul
Sufjan could have played it safe and released another folk album, but instead, he completely switched it up and went big, experimental, electronic instrumentation and vocals. You truly never know what you're going to get with a Sufjan Stevens album, and that's what makes him so great.
  6. Seven Swans
    by Sufjan Stevens
    Seven Swans Seven Swans
don't let the religious parts of the album turn you off, it's just a good, classic, folk album.
  7. Illinois
    by Sufjan Stevens
    Chicago Chicago
This album has quite a variety of topics covered; a serial killer, Abraham Lincoln, bone cancer, etc etc, with Sufjan's intimate vocals, and the Illinoisemaker Choir to give some of the tracks a more uplifting spirit. Though this album is 74 minutes long, and has 23 songs, how diverse it is makes it well worth the time.
  8. Carrie & Lowell
    by Sufjan Stevens
Fourth of July Fourth of July
My absolute favourite Sufjan album. Being able to relate to these lyrics can feel very heavy, but it's the best album for a sad day when you need to just relieve yourself of whatever it is that you're grieving.
  9. All Delighted People EP
    by Sufjan Stevens
The Owl And The Tanager The Owl And The Tanager
Two versions of the same song, yet it sounds completely different. Sufjan, you never let me down.
  10. Michigan
    by Sufjan Stevens
    Romulus Romulus
Great introduction to Sufjan's singer-songwriter talents.
