    So raw and emotional. The minimalistic instrumentation of fingerpicked guitar and Elliott's hushed vocals give me goosebumps. To label this album as just, "depressing", is incredibly limiting. It's an absolute masterpiece. So much talent in one man, gone too soon.

    This album has quite a variety of topics covered; a serial killer, Abraham Lincoln, bone cancer, etc etc, with Sufjan's intimate vocals, and the Illinoisemaker Choir to give some of the tracks a more uplifting spirit. Though this album is 74 minutes long, and has 23 songs, how diverse it is makes it well worth the time.
