I Never Lose. Never Really I Never Lose. Never Really
A very special album, overwhelming and textured in a way many noise and ambient projects can't touch. Unique mood and soundscape that I adore

  3. Fabulous Muscles

I Luv the Valley, OH! I Luv the Valley, OH!
People say this is super accessible but this is top 3 for the band in terms of harsh, real, and upsetting lyrics and topics. the quieter and more "accessible" production on some songs only further highlight the vocals and lyrics in a way that more sonically intense records can't manage. Experimental in equal measure to anything pop. A challenging and emotionally charged tapestry that I can't help but dive into repeatedly to try and find some reason in how fucked everything is.Xiu Xiu do it again

    Ignored Ignored
hardcore punk, jazz, alien themes, kind of all my jams wrapped into a tight package. Intense, freaky, lean runtime but feels dense especially being sectioned into essentially 4 parts. Easily one of the best punk records of the decade so far. Also that drumming...holy shit
  5. Horror of the Hexham Heads
    by The Night Monitor
    Night Shapes Night Shapes
Feels like an interesting next step for TNM. more layers, harsher at times, and scarier than any previous work. Still the synths and structure are undeniably TNM, playfully spooky all around. Would kill for further development of this style with another alien topic (or repress of Spaceman) but the album topic here is undeniably interesting and probably his best go at soundtracking these kinds of stories. it feels like a film, superb stuff

    by Skyway Man
Old Swingin' Bell Old Swingin' Bell
i think i found this at the perfect time in my life and spiritual journey. Also incredible layering and softly psychedelic structuring. An incredible and life affirming time

What Once Was Will Be Again What Once Was Will Be Again
it's hard getting this kind of genre right. the use of vocals are a nice touch, but mostly what makes this so good is how long the songs are and how tasteful the inclusion of synthesizers and violin is. time to build and transform, bring in new textures and instrumentation, all with a mood and soundscape that is enticing to get lost within

got a code because i purchased some vinyl from the label, and wow is this a stacked compilation. Very long and relaxing, well worth a purchase and I highly recommend you explore the catalogue of your favorites from this project

Extremely dorky in the best way, pure fun from top to bottom. Will have these tunes bouncing around my noggin for the foreseeable future

Mya Byrne - Untitled Improvisation Mya Byrne - Untitled Improvisation
pretty great variety here! Lots of fun and occasionally emotionally devastating tracks. just an all around great showcase of talent and creativity that ends with quite the hilarious number

Return to the Lonesome Prairie Return to the Lonesome Prairie
cosmic, dusty, relaxing, engaging, and a bit cheesy at points. But that's not a bad thing! Music to recline in the desert to
  15. American Water
    by Silver Jews
the radical approach of "what if country music...but good?"
  16. Heretic Pride
    by the Mountain Goats
    Heretic Pride Heretic Pride
an underrated release but also the Mountain Goats have like five 10/10 releases from the earliest days to fairly recent releases so it's not too surprising this doesn't get brought up enough as one of their best. But it certainly should
  17. Aliens Are Real
    by UFOm
    Screen Memory Screen Memory
A bizarre, amateur, and interesting ambient new age album. A lot of "new age" stuff is quite bad but this captures a relaxing and whimsical vibe with enough variation and mood when needed to make a for a quality full project. One of my favorite new discoveries

I always think I have enough ambient albums but then I find something too good to pass up. Just really solid, not groundbreaking or anything but well worth adding to your ambient collection
  20. Till You Return
    by Teenage Halloween
    Armageddon Now Armageddon Now
amazing emo record, short tracks and overall runtime but always fun and feels satisfying to listen to front to back. Just the right amount of edge, high energy, catchy as fuck. also super queer which is a bonus
