  3. In The Dead, Dead Wood
    by Vennart
    Super Sleuth Super Sleuth
This is a rip roaring tour de force from Mr Vennart. The songs are arranged perfectly and sounds captured perfectly (especially considering the circumstances of lockdown) by one of/if not Britains most underrated songwriter and performer. Yes I miss Oceansize but if this is what is to be expected then I am very much looking to the future sonic undertakings of Vennart. Best thing is I can enjoy both. Result!

Vinyl had sold out but I am not one bit disappointed in the CD book that came. Gorgeous.

    Evil Doppelganger Evil Doppelganger
Great lead single with a wee gem of a b-side. If like me you've been aware of Yip Man for a while but not delved into the catalogue...delve in! Seriously folks this is amazing music. Get listening!
  5. Cock of the North
    by Yip Man
    Magic Potion Magic Potion
The Kung Fu kicks and Zen men have clearly served The Yip Man well. Cock of the North is the hattrick album and builds on his previous releases (which are braw). With the prowess of the Pixies and Weezer for pop hooks and combining it with rythym more akin to Mogwai, Teenage Fanclub or early Biffy (less distortion) the sonics are uneal. Lyrically it has the humour of Colin Hay and the fragility of Scott Hutchison but Yip Man has very much melded all components to be his own. It's a YIP from me.
  6. Pure Zen, Ken?
    by Yip Man
    Suffer More Suffer More
Great collection of tracks that form a beautifully crafted and cohesive album. The songs are well written, sonically impeccable and laced with just my kind of humour. The vinyl is stunningly presented (as are all Yip Man albums - props for that) and the mindfulness colouring book is the best lyric book I have in my vinyl collection just for the idea in itself. Supporting the arts is essential and its made even cooler when you can create some at the same time. Pure Zenned oot ma nut!...ken?
  7. Braw Power
    by Yip Man
Skinny White Ghost Skinny White Ghost
This album is chock full of unbelievably good songs. So original, so well written, thought out and performed. Presented beautifully and is just as braw and powerful as the title suggests!
