    Forget-me-not Forget-me-not
Perhaps the best album available through Bandcamp. This album will fundamentally change how you view modern music.
  3. Kirlian Selections
    by The Flashbulb
Miles And Miles Miles And Miles
15 years after its initial release I still find the breadth of material on this album impressive and innovative. To me, the album captures the essence of bipolar disorder and possibly schizophrenia. Few artists could pull off such frenetic foreground tracks with such calming synths in the background. Rare acoustic pieces are a reprieve from the sometimes harsh, propulsive and high BPM acid jazz. You'll feel like you've earned it. Top recommendation.
  4. Love As A Dark Hallway
    by The Flashbulb
The Basement Guitarist The Basement Guitarist
Serene yet frenetic. One of Benn's best albums.
  5. Twin Fantasy
    by Car Seat Headrest
My Boy (Twin Fantasy) My Boy (Twin Fantasy)
Essential listening for Bandcamp. The re-recorded and re-mastered classic album is tonally simple, but emotionally powerful. Enjoy the mind of Will Toledo. Love the album artwork, too.
  6. Come in

Mio, min Mio Mio, min Mio
Charming bedroom rock album. The artist references their headset mic used to capture audio - it gives the album a cozy and authentic lo-fi feeling. Like a warm blanket on a cold day. Feels inspired by Twin Fantasy album from Car Seat Headrest, which is probably enough to make the CSH fanbase perk up. It's a joyous album and I recommend it. I also like the album art goblin.
  7. Why Does The Earth Give Us People To Love?
    by Kara Jackson
    no fun/party no fun/party
Woof. What a beautiful piece of art this album is. Soulful and poetic lyrics with plucky but also sad strings. In 2023 there are still not many women singer/songwriters, so it's refreshing to have a different perspective than the male point of view. An album about disappointment, ennui, heartbreak, and dissatisfaction. Challenging stuff, but enshrined in a beautiful crystalline form through Kara Jackson's songcraft. Not an everyday-album, yet highly recommended.
  8. Uncut Gems - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
    by Daniel Lopatin
The Ballad Of Howie Bling The Ballad Of Howie Bling
This film is relentless. You're placed in the headspace of a compulsive risk taker and gambler who is basically trying to juggle three chainsaws and two glasses of wine. The OST from Lopatin (of Oneohtrix Point Never fame) is an incredible complement and keeps you engrossed. Like a trainwreck in slow motion that you cannot take your eyes off. Highly effective.
  9. Spelunky
    by Eirik Suhrke
    Temple A Temple A
Unique indie darling with a distinct synth-heavy OST. Eschews a retro vibe from the MSDOS days of Rogue and Rogue-likes, but is also easily distinguished by its sound font and mood. The OST stands on its own, even when you don't hear individual tracks looping over and over. Maybe this will be "the run."...

    Mother Mother
Gosh golly I've spent a few hours playing this game! Incredible OST gives each scenario character to distinguish set pieces from one another. After hundreds or thousands of runs, hearing a new song is a reward in and of itself!
  11. DELTARUNE Chapter 1 OST
    by Toby Fox
    Chaos King Chaos King
A surprise free release from the creator of Undertale. Is it the same universe? Do your choices matter? Hm - we aren't really sure yet, but it's only part 1. Like before, Toby is a highly effective composer and the soundtrack delivers this quick game to great heights. You'll just be craving more from the series!
  12. DELTARUNE Chapter 2 OST
    by Toby Fox
    Pandora Palace Pandora Palace
Even more of a good thing. Distinguished from chapter 1 by being much longer and by more fully exploring some of the side characters. This means more music with more themes than part 1. I have a hard time listening to the whole OST start to finish in one sitting, but I do enjoy several tracks and have listened to them on repeat. Let's hope we get the full story, as each one has been a banger thus far.

The Making of Grief Point The Making of Grief Point
I listened to this album extensively on its initial release. It was a dark time for me, I guess. You have to be in the right mindset to appreciate 'ambience.' The last track is a narrative that reveals a narrator's thoughts on the genre. Sorrowful and contemplative.
  15. Plume
    by loscil
    Charlie Charlie
Of loscil's catalogue, I've listened to this album the most. It is relatively melodic and bubbly, but this is only relative to a somber sound in other works. A soft and very abstracted house music: stretched and free of any thumping beat. It's good.
  16. From Here We Go Sublime
    by The Field
Over The Ice Over The Ice
At 15 years old, it's time to call it what it is: a modern classic. Wilner's genre-defining entry into microhouse is a delight for the ears. Mixed live(!) and with minimal instrumentation. I recommend his 2012 interview with Clément Mathon for perspective on his process. Seminal, sensational, minimal!
  17. Carrie & Lowell
    by Sufjan Stevens
Death with Dignity Death with Dignity
Good God. Few albums are this beautiful yet poignant. With the first track, the listener is immediately cast as a loving son reckoning with forgiving the imperfections of his dying mother. It doesn't lay up from there. The double tracked whispered lyrics from Stevens will send chills down your spine. Excellent album.
  18. World Eater
    by Blanck Mass
John Doe's Carnival of Error John Doe's Carnival of Error
One half of "Fuck Buttons" but full amounts of quality. A great mix of ambient, short loops played at quick speed and semi-melodic drums and samples.
Baby's first noise album, maybe, but a fun listen. Love the snarling dog album art, too.

90s-inspired rave, harsh noise and a healthy dose of Amen break. Incredible album artwork caught my eye and I stayed for the beats.
