Tribulation has invented a new and wonderful subgenre with this one! There are bits of Black Sabbath, Opeth, and Dark Tranquility, but Down Below is something else entirely. It even tightropes between the categories of “traditional” and “extreme” metal. That’s all to say that it is a musical anomaly (in the best possible way). Dare I say: If aliens landed on my front porch tomorrow and asked me what metal sounded like, I would hand them this album.
