  1. Entr'acte
    by Izolda's Tears
    Forest girl Forest girl
When vaporwave meets hiphop. I applaud Izolda's Tears on this album, it's one of my favourite Tofu-Kozo release. I had to buy the cassette and I was amazed by the quality (the personal note inside made me laugh).
Many French artists are sampled here like Erik Satie & Marie Laforêt. Some titles like Peruvian Prism and Sysoul are chill, others like Castle of the Villain and Forest Girl are punchier.
    A strange but joyful experience.
  2. Anogal
    by Lowqua
    Chicken Church Chicken Church
Lowqua knows how to master the beatmaking art. That guy seems to come out of a strange union between Madlib and a weirdo from "Awesome tapes from Africa" label.
I love the raw samples, the non-use of quantize and the fatness of the kicks.
Hump makes me dance every morning. I wasn't prepared for Nya, Jesus Christ...
Too much groove for simple humans like us.
  3. Tōfu-kozō Records vol.1
    by Tōfu-kozō Records
Nya - Lowqua Nya - Lowqua
These three artists are awesome and having them in one tape is even more dope!
I listened to every other albums from the Tofu-Kozo label and yes, this is the very best of.
I threw away my CD player for an old cassette player in my car. I can't get enough.
  4. Toshiro
    by Shugendō
    Eyelashes Eyelashes
Shugendo seems to be the chillest out of the Tofu-Kozo artists. A lot of these titles work in pairs. I think of Toshiro and Bambou which are very influenced by Asian melodies. Golf Swing and Circuit are very lofi. Le Bel Homme and バーバラ are very powerful and fat. And finally, Eyelashes Anata are sweet and dreamy.
The only problem is that I'm now waiting for the second volume!
  5. Hug a Tree
    by Izolda's Tears
    It's Ok, Don't Worry It's Ok, Don't Worry
This second album from Izolda's Tears is in the continuity of Entr'acte. However the sounds are much more coherent. Built like a journey, the different interludes seems to indicate a way that I still haven't discovered fully. Curé is fucked up. Bean and Body are very melodic. OMG, Hug a Tree is so loud, I love that drum beat. It's OK, Don't Worry makes me very nostalgic. LOL, I recognised some Twin Peaks extracts.
    An enigmatic and exciting tape.
