  2. Croweater: An Echo in the Bone
    by Fall of an Empire
    featured track 00:00/00:00
Beyond the Pale Beyond the Pale
I hereby decree that both of the Croweater albums must be released on vinyl. Purple vinyl for part one and blue vinyl for part two. These albums deserve the royal treatment!
  3. Croweater 2: The Last Wishes of Kings

    This Mountain This Mountain
I have no idea from where these guys are drawing inspiration, but with the Croweater albums they are climbing their way straight to legendary status. If they continue to knock it out of the park like this they have the very real potential of being household names in the very near future.

I love these songs. Sounds like driving through the night and arriving tired, but hopeful at a place that you've been missing for a long time.

I Sing in Silence I Sing in Silence
A kinder gentler Goat (for the most part) employing some new instruments and showing an ability to tone it down a notch without compromising that Goat vibe that is so enjoyable.

Talk to God Talk to God
I was playing this at work (don't ask) and a coworker said, "What's this? Some 60's crap?" But by mid record he was absentmindedly nodding his head to the rhythms. Like it or not you cannot deny the power of these droning works of art!

Heard this on Stoned Meadow Of Doom 2, on Youtube. Fantastic prog. It's written that this album was 3 years in the making and I believe it. The end result is a flawless progressive album that fans of Tool, Porcupine Tree, and the new more ambient Anathema should love on the first listen. I want this on vinyl!
  12. A World Of Masks
    by The Heliocentrics
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
Made Of The Sun Made Of The Sun
I just wrote a long review and then erased it because there's just so many elements that deserve special recognition on this album. 500 words or less will not do justice to the music or Barbora Patkova's otherworldly vocal performance on this album. I'm writing this on the release date, but have no doubts that this is timeless.

    Aviator Shades Aviator Shades
You might call this alt country, but that would be doing this album a disservice as it doesn't speak to the myriad of influences that creep into the album or the fact that the lyrics are some of the most creative ever written in any genre. Lest you think I'm exaggering, listen to the album and read the lyrics as you ponder how the hell this band isn't huge.
  14. My Gospel

Hanging Out On The Line Hanging Out On The Line
I paid extra to get this album from Bandcamp rather than Amazon because I wanted the FLAC file option. The beautiful arrangements and background singers made it worth hearing in a higher quality. If you're a fan of the new wave of classic country singers like Sturgill Simpson and Whitey Morgan this album is a homerun.

    Intro Intro
I want to thank the Sonic Dawn for sending the vinyl early, but also for the nice poster and message inside the box. this is how you create life long fans! My only request now is that you start touring America. Love this music!
  17. Perception
    by The Sonic Dawn
    featured track 00:00/00:00
Watching Dust Fall Watching Dust Fall
The Sonic Dawn's psychedelic masterpiece has arrived. Any band pondering a retro vibe on their own album should at least take note of the masterful production on Perception. Impossible to pick a true favorite on this one.

I love the unique vibe that Skinshape creates. He really owns this particular shade of mellow and I can't imagine mistaking him for anyone else.

Better writers than me have commented on this album, so I'll just add that if you're not a fan of metal, but are appreciative of good song writing you should at least give this album a listen. It's actually very very good.

I saw this band pop up in the feed after it was purchased by Andre Marc. Damn! Strangejuice writes some of the most entertaining and original lyrics I have heard in a long time. The songs are like twisted little short stories and will surely stand up to the test of time. Highly recommended.

Amazing doom with mystical sounding passages that give way to a brutal pummeling. Highly stylized and atmospheric. A very unique and satisfying listen. And that album artwork matches the feel of the album so well!

Brilliant album highlighted (for me) by the bands use of The Bright Field by Welsh poet R. S. Thomas. Beautiful and tasteful music.
Update 12/1/2015: There was a slight mistake on my vinyl order and Nick went above and beyond to correct the issue. I'm very happy with Occultation recordings and Nick in particular. I will be on the lookout for more releases from this company!

This lady sure has an amazing voice. Watching the band's powerful live performances on Youtube has left me scratching my head as to why they're not more well known by now. I could speculate that they simply fall between genres. They're a mix of country, psychedelic, soul, and a few others at times, but never easily categorized. In the end though, it's just good music.

I went information seeking after hearing the first song on the album and learned too much to fit into this small review. Just know that this is a collection of songs about Black Mountain College and it's very moving as a whole.
