I do not just want to watch the world burn, I intend to cast the first torch.

I seek brutal tunes, beers darker than the blackest black, and fluffy kitties.

  1. Black Earth Tongue

    favorite track 00:00/00:00
Teeth Black As Coffin Nails Teeth Black As Coffin Nails
I cannot state how impressed I was with the band's first release, Ruins and Ashes. I was expecting great things for a followup.
Wolves Carry my Name has not disappointed.

While I was expecting an evolution of the same, the sound has instead twisted. This one opens with a snarl present in the guitars and vocals, their fangs have grown in. Here they have earned their namesake.
  2. And Down in the Valley, They Found Her Body
    by Dinitrios
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
    Free Free
This is no mere metal album. The fact a single man could produce this stuns me.
Here you will find a tale, told with anger, hopelessness and in the end peace.
I owe this man a nights bar tab.
  3. Demo s/t
    by Skullthrone
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
I've tried for over an hour to come up with the right words, and have utterly failed.
Anyone searching for black metal needs to stop and listen, search over.
  4. Grandfather's Axe
    by Globe and Beast
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
    Directions Directions
I want this to be one of those local bands I can go to some shitty bar and watch live.
There is nothing technically impressive about the music, but the band rejects the standard verse chorus verse style. Every track has something to say, something relevant to the life most of us live getting from day to day fighting the mediocrity of life.
  5. Horror Vacui
    by Herder
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
Feet Eager To Run To Evil Feet Eager To Run To Evil
Expansive sound, it sounds like it is echoing off the walls of a canyon. Simply deep, dark, beautiful. A slow simmering anger that never quite spills over.
  6. Women & Children
    by Author & Punisher
    featured track 00:00/00:00
    In Remorse In Remorse
Almost painfully slow buildups lead towards something heavy, angry, but a pace you can't mosh to. It makes you want to scream for more, but your voice would be lost, not even insignificant in the assault unleashed upon you.

This album shows the man growing his art, as with each album before it is his greatest yet, without diminishing the quality of all that came before.
  7. Dark Opus
    by Judgement Day
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
The Hour is at Hand The Hour is at Hand
    Raw and beautiful.
Symphonic metal is a well understood quantity, but this album remains special, it feels right.
I wish the later albums kept the same feel.
  8. Drone Machines
    by Author & Punisher
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
    Skies O'er Skies O'er
I listen, and I see without so much as closing my eyes.

The apocalypse has already happened, amongst the ruins and ashes this is the soundtrack.
The remnants come scraping and clawing, desperate and angry at the world at which they've been left. Their struggles are void of meaning, their existence forgotten even before they perish. Their story is his and ours. We are lost in the sound.
  9. Bone Carver
    by Wolves Carry My Name
    track 00:00/00:00
This band is killer, they've yet to put out a single track I don't love.
It's metal, but there is a core of rock. Just listen, you'll buy it.
  10. Dark Foil
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
Ain't No Sunshine Ain't No Sunshine
The perfect sludge metal album. Tracks that stick with you for days, bass which can level your flat, lyrics that leave you feeling the need to take a shower.
Every bit as addicting as it's subject matter. Hook up all the subs you can find, turn off every single light, enjoy.
  11. Home Is Where The Hatred Is
    by Primitive Man
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
    Downfall Downfall
Slow, seething, infuriating. The essence of doom metal interspersed with sections of speed.
This is the kind of album that grips your neck, starts digging it's thumbs into your throat stares you in the eye waiting for you to get angry enough to satisfy it.
The sonic equivalent of standing in the center of a pit, gesturing for someone to come give you the kind of hit you've been needing for the whole god damn set.
