Lovely and hauting melodic songs, stripped down to the bare essentials yet somehow still creating a filling sound. Emily's wonderful soothing voice weavesmelanchally yet reassuring lyrics over the wonderful melodic music. Great stuff.
I caught this guy at the Greystones in Sheffield and he was fantastic. Acoustic singer songwriter in the vein of Townes Van Zandt type thing but with an awesome growl of a barritone voice. Imagine Howlin Wolf singing Neil Diamond in the style of ryan Adams, no really. Check him out live if you can and get his albums too.
Good old fashioned working class songs from the raspy voiced but honest sounding journey man Otis Gibbs. Great lyrics and melodies, this guy can write a catchy hook or choruse but still have something important to say with it. Often likened to Steve Earle, Guthrie or Nebraska era Springsteen, and I can see why. such comparissons failt to do him true justice though.
