The Taste Of Blood The Taste Of Blood
Jim Jarmusch made my favorite movie of all time: Deadman. His films’ soundtracks have always been excellent. This tops them all, however. Big fan of Jozef Van Wissem. His work with the lute is incredible . Glad to have this album on vinyl. Thanks Sis!
  3. Six Dances (Komitas Vardapet)
    by Keiko Shichijo
    Shushiki Shushiki
Magical performance of very cool pieces. Keiko Schichijo is a one of my favorite musicians. Her playing conveys so much .

  6. New Music with Guitar (works from Vols. 1-3)
    by David Starobin
    Changes Changes
This is the first Starobin recording I owned back in 1995. My teacher lent me a cassette and then I bought the CD. Mind blown and it really expanded my view of the guitar in an exciting way. I realized that Starobin was carrying on and expanding the Bream tradition of new repertoire, collaborating with singers, etc. Hard to pick a favorite track. Essential listening.

    Chase Chase
This is a legendary recording. David Starobin is the most important American guitarist. His career has been stellar and has brought so much to the music world. His record label alone is monumental. But I would like to talk about Chase, written by his brother Michael. One of the most exciting and visionary pieces ever written for guitar, it is still ahead of its time 40 years later. He opened up vast possibilities in composition and even foreshadowed industrial sounds in rock and metal.

  12. When Shall This Bright Day Begin
    by Jozef van Wissem
    Detachment Detachment
Strong emotional underpinning to these pieces. The vocal song Detachment is powerful. Such a brilliant composer and musician. Bringing the lute into new settings.
  13. Selected Guitar Works Of William Lovelady
    by Amanda Cook
    Charles Péguy Charles Péguy
Excellent recording. I really appreciate the depth and introspection of Amanda Cook’s playing here. She conveys the music of Lovelady in a beautiful, compelling way. This is a recording I can sink my teeth into. Well done.
  14. Bleed the Future
    by Archspire
Drain of Incarnation Drain of Incarnation
This is so good there are no words for it. Difficult to take other music seriously after hearing Archspire.
