It doesn’t feel like hyperbole to call this one of the more exciting rap records from this year. Airospace draws in dedicated fans due to his deep-cut anime references, but his knack for confessional honesty is what really makes him exceptional. Airo draws from a huge array of different influences, but the rapper who he most closely resembles is Slug, with a similar knack for heart-on-the-sleeve storytelling, particularly notable on tracks like “An Open Letter to Helen Pt. 1” and “Nocturne”.

While clipping. is equally noteworthy for their meticulous and brutal production as they are for Daveed Diggs’s tight and technical flow, it’s undeniably fascinating to hear Diggs’s vocals isolated.

Sorrow: I - Lento — Sostenuto Tranquillo Ma Cantabile Sorrow: I - Lento — Sostenuto Tranquillo Ma Cantabile
Although he has kept the original arrangements almost entirely in tact, Stetson has completely augmened the instrumentation by utilizing his own skills on the saxophone, integrating black metal-inspired tremolo guitars and dungeon synths, and his sister’s incredibly powerful mezzo-soprano voice.
