Ashes in the Snow Ashes in the Snow
    Gorgeous and heartfelt.

All the merit for this gem enriching my collection goes out to Hans. You, dear Sir, are as thoughtful and gallant as ever. ;-)
  2. Extinction Fragment
    by Extinction Fragment
    featured track 00:00/00:00
    Part 1 & 2 Part 1 & 2
There is so much talent here that it is barely containable. Such an impressive debut. Anyone partial to atmospheric progressive metal of the djent variety, lend an ear.
Too long has this beauty been stuck in my wishlist...thank you for rectifying that, Hans. ;-)

Well...this release is no different from their previous work...in that it is an orgiastic feast for the senses!

    Distant Suns Distant Suns
The mere fact that this album exists is wonderful news to me. I was devastated when I learned Borean Dusk was no more, so I'm very happy that people who were involved with it are once again putting music out there. :-) And great music it is! Quite different in mood and intensity, but it's still well-executed, instrumental progressive metal, with those gorgeous acoustic passages that help create an atmosphere I've found very pleasing. I have to say it all makes up for a highly enjoyable listen.

Blood on the Hoar-Frost: I. Spoor, II. March of the Gargantuas, III. The Ravens' Banquet Blood on the Hoar-Frost: I. Spoor, II. March of the Gargantuas, III. The Ravens' Banquet
This album has come to mean a lot to me over the years...I've been spellbound from the moment I first heard it. There's just...something about it. An undefinable quality, something that takes hold of you and transports you to another place. A place where you can almost feel the cold bite at your cheeks, where you can smell the blood, hanging heavy in the air, and, shivering with anticipation, hear the raven up above, croaking danger is near. Listen up! You can almost hear the battle cry!
  7. Dare! You fuzzy basterds!
    by Fuzzphorus

    Gasoline Gasoline
Given how much I enjoyed these guys' debut, I was hoping that, the second time around, they would produce something of comparable quality. Well, having finally listened to it, I can say they do not disappoint. Far from it!
So...if fuzz of the highest order is something you've got an itch for, it behooves you to scratch it. Why not start here?
  8. Yuri Gagarin (2014 Remix)
    by Yuri Gagarin
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
    Za Kosmosom Za Kosmosom
If there is anyone out there who enjoys losing himself in the sounds of heavy psychedelia from outer space, but remains unfamiliar with these guys, I urge you to do something about it. This stuff is stellar.
  9. King Calo Destroyer of Ships

Stoke the fire Stoke the fire
Gather 'round, riff worshipers! Gather 'round, stoner lovin' friends! I'll tell you a tale you'd be wise to believe...
    <makes a dramatic pause>
This album rocks. It rocks from start to finish. It rocks hard. It's well-performed, intricate, highly satisfying hard rock of the stoner variety. And my words are definitely not doing it justice.
  10. EP
    by White Noise Broadcast
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
    In Dark In Dark
Aptly named, White Noise Broadcast is heavy on the fuzz. They should appeal to anyone who has a taste for that doomy, '70s vibe stoner rock...or, as I like to call it, the finer things in life. ;-) Those receptive should find abundant riffage to enjoy.

  11. Westworld: Talebearers Of The Occident
    by AquaTramp
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
Gut Rot Blues Gut Rot Blues
Whenever I get wind of upcoming goodies from these guys, I get excited. Today, that excitement is tempered slightly by the fact that the latest offering is not a full-length. Fortunately, the quality of the music offsets this.
AquaTramp play a brand of southern rock I am tempted to dub stoner country blues. It's an interesting blend of guitar-rich bluesy groove and Sabbathesque stoner doom. The rhythm section is tight, guitar work inspired, and the raw vocal delivery really gives it...texture.
