This might be my new favorite Halley Labs Album, right after Null Note Head. Lighter vibes here, but with no less technical mastery, and an equal sense of a wild, psychedelic journey
The combination of tracks 6 and 7 sucked me in a way no other music has lately. Curiosity is certainly one way to express this enigmatic layering of chaotic percussive textures and ethereal melodies.
I'm surprised how I can always seem to vibe with this album, no matter what I'm feeling at the time. I see what others mean about the more intense tracks - c majalis and tranq are both incredible - but I also love the immersion from the more ambient pieces.
The engineering on this album is so sophisticated that it blurs the line between the natural and synthetic - digital bleeps and bloops suddenly transform into aspects of a vast organic landscape. There's huge depth to each track, and a wide range of moods accross the album. My favorite of the set definitely shifts around with each listen.
This album takes me back to a certain time in my life -- not a great time, honestly. The fact it can reach me there at all though is a testament to all the beautiful, raw, bleeding heart that went into this album. Nine Stars and the final track devastate me every time.
