To Harvest The Storm To Harvest The Storm
“To Harvest The Storm” has a impressive tension build-up. While the bassplayer is laying down some hypnotizing riffs, guitars and drums slowly join in and you know the storm is coming. When the storm arrives you as a listener are standing in the eye of a hurricane and with your eyes closed you can hear the instrumentalization, especially the amazing guitar work tear everything apart.
  11. The First Son of The Final Son
    by Lament Cityscape
Sewn Into Our Palm Sewn Into Our Palm
The second track “Sewn Into Our Palm” shows the band’s songwriting capability. After some big riffs and wall of sound there’s a bit of silence and then the magic happens: a single note guitar riff starts and from that moment on the band starts working on nice tension build-up, adding feedback, drums, and finally the big chords take over bringing the 10 min track to an end. It’s a perfect soundtrack if you ever get adrift on the ocean!
  12. Grave Descent
    by Larvae
The Lost Await The Lost Await
Grave Descent contains 7 songs, 43 minutes of damn fine death/doom. It goes from uptempo riffin’ in a song like “The Lost Await”, something that will definitely give your neck muscles a workout, to a very desolate sounding doom metal in the first 6 minutes of “Archaic Circles” and back to blastbeatin’ speeds on the closing track “Cold Dead Faces”. It’s all there!
  13. Spectral Tower
    by Spectral Tower
Very interesting release by this new band. The 6 songs on their debut have a very atmospheric, doomy and black metalish vibe. While the music is very atmospheric the drums are always present and keep everything together. Beautiful melancholic guitar melodies pop up now and then aswell some tempo changes like the fast part in "Departure". The growly vocals add some extra darkness to the whole. A very good and balanced release that should be heard from begin to end.
  14. DEMO 2014
    by DEADENDS
    CONSUME CONSUME
This demo should be called “Three Strikes And You’re Out” because the 3 songs on this release hit you like a wrecking ball and this time it’s not Miley Cyrus swinging it but 4 dudes from Kingston, USA. Powerviolence and hardcore mixed with sludge and doom. It sounds fast, filthy, hard and heavy. If you are into bands like Nails you can download this without even listening and go nuts on that kickass sludgy and filthy breakdown at the end of “Consume”
  15. Smoking Coffins
    by Wizard Union
Into the Wizard's Sleeve Into the Wizard's Sleeve
Three guys from Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti, USA area taking straightforward rock songs and bathing them in a filthy sludge pool. The short 3 or 4 minutes songs although heavily distorted still sound catchy now and then: "In Tooooo The Wizaaard's Sleeeeeeve!" There is nothing new under under the sun here but some things don't need to be reinvented, like beer.
  16. Rite of Ascension
    by Mammoth Storm
Rite of Ascension Rite of Ascension
The solid base provided by the drums allows the guitarist to unleash his kickass big droning riffs and unless you are paralyzed the sound of this will definitely make you nod. Still this guys have one last treat for the listener: Daniel Arvidsson’s great raw vocals that remind me a bit of Al Cisneros especially on the title track of this release.
  17. Dragon Feeder
    by Dragon Feeder
Not So Supernova Not So Supernova
Heavy stoner rock with a little bit of nice laid back feel to it and raw “clean” vocals that fit the atmosphere. To top that off the band’s lead guitarist John Brown is present throughout the release with lengthy soulful guitar solos.
