I'm a software engineer at Bandcamp. I like rock and electronic music, and foray into blues, funk, folk, metal, jazz and ambient. Plus, you know, other stuff. From surf rock to space ambient, if it has an earthy guitar or an unearthly synth I'm willing to give it a listen.

    Routeousness Routeousness
A 50-year-old collection of sunny modern jazz, often latin-flavored, including both studio and live tracks.

At first I misread this fave track as "Righteousness"-- an appropriate title for an explosive little bebop number.

I heart the Coasts and you will too if you like fuzzy retro rock with a loud edge and earnest voice.

This tight release showcases their range and if you like it I also highly recommend their debut from last year.

    Hard-Working Man Hard-Working Man
I love it: a new release from The Coasts is the perfect opportunity to highlight this great release of theirs from last year.

The Coasts are a duo of rockers who assembled one of my favorite releases of 2011-- full of a range of hard-edged classic rock sounds from bootstomping party rockers like RIOT!! to my favorite track Hard-Working Man which slow burns into an epic, bluesy, blue collar lament.

One of those great albums that can be played front to back, and gets better as it goes.

    Painted Caves Painted Caves
Most of the tracks have lyrics (spare, and poignant), but one of the most mesmerizing tracks is this self-titled one, one of two instrumentals. The whole album is a kaleidoscopic blend of arabian guitars/rhythms and indie rock.
  11. Graveyard Full Of Blues: Pennies On My Eyes
    by Craig Hughes
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
My Side Of The Veil My Side Of The Veil
I was so bowled-over by Craig's music I immediately bought all 3 of his releases currently on Bandcamp. This guy is a one-man (plus the occasional friend) alt-blues machine, writing compelling songs full of dark humor and modern pathos, with a stripped-down, low-down, and sometimes a hoe-down kind of sound. Dude plays a mean slide guitar and does much of his own production too.

My favorite track here is My Side Of The Veil, a straight-up lament from beyond the grave.
