There's nothing like some healthy local talent to break my hiatus!
While they are certainly versatile enough to protest at being pigeonholed thus, if I were to hazard a guess, I'd say they honed their considerable skills over a choice selection of heavyweights such as Mastodon, Isis, Gojira. Deuel hence lies entrenched at the place where these bands' respective genres meet. A noteworthy debut!
Ought to appeal to anyone with a healthy appreciation of progressive groove metal and all its varieties
  6. Hymn to the Immortal Wind
    by MONO
    Gorgeous and heartfelt.

All the merit for this gem enriching my collection goes out to Hans. You, dear Sir, are as thoughtful and gallant as ever. ;-)

There is so much talent here that it is barely containable. Such an impressive debut. Anyone partial to atmospheric progressive metal of the djent variety, lend an ear.
Too long has this beauty been stuck in my wishlist...thank you for rectifying that, Hans. ;-)

Well...this release is no different from their previous work...in that it is an orgiastic feast for the senses!
  10. Sons Of Vulcan

    Distant Suns Distant Suns
The mere fact that this album exists is wonderful news to me. I was devastated when I learned Borean Dusk was no more, so I'm very happy that people who were involved with it are once again putting music out there. :-) And great music it is! Quite different in mood and intensity, but it's still well-executed, instrumental progressive metal, with those gorgeous acoustic passages that help create an atmosphere I've found very pleasing. I have to say it all makes up for a highly enjoyable listen.

This album has come to mean a lot to me over the years...I've been spellbound from the moment I first heard it. There's just...something about it. An undefinable quality, something that takes hold of you and transports you to another place. A place where you can almost feel the cold bite at your cheeks, where you can smell the blood, hanging heavy in the air, and, shivering with anticipation, hear the raven up above, croaking danger is near. Listen up! You can almost hear the battle cry!
  12. Dare! You fuzzy basterds!
    by Fuzzphorus
    Gasoline Gasoline
Given how much I enjoyed these guys' debut, I was hoping that, the second time around, they would produce something of comparable quality. Well, having finally listened to it, I can say they do not disappoint. Far from it!
So...if fuzz of the highest order is something you've got an itch for, it behooves you to scratch it. Why not start here?

    Za Kosmosom Za Kosmosom
If there is anyone out there who enjoys losing himself in the sounds of heavy psychedelia from outer space, but remains unfamiliar with these guys, I urge you to do something about it. This stuff is stellar.

Gather 'round, riff worshipers! Gather 'round, stoner lovin' friends! I'll tell you a tale you'd be wise to believe...
    <makes a dramatic pause>
This album rocks. It rocks from start to finish. It rocks hard. It's well-performed, intricate, highly satisfying hard rock of the stoner variety. And my words are definitely not doing it justice.
  15. EP

    In Dark In Dark
Aptly named, White Noise Broadcast is heavy on the fuzz. They should appeal to anyone who has a taste for that doomy, '70s vibe stoner rock...or, as I like to call it, the finer things in life. ;-) Those receptive should find abundant riffage to enjoy.

  16. Westworld: Talebearers Of The Occident
    by AquaTramp
Gut Rot Blues Gut Rot Blues
Whenever I get wind of upcoming goodies from these guys, I get excited. Today, that excitement is tempered slightly by the fact that the latest offering is not a full-length. Fortunately, the quality of the music offsets this.
AquaTramp play a brand of southern rock I am tempted to dub stoner country blues. It's an interesting blend of guitar-rich bluesy groove and Sabbathesque stoner doom. The rhythm section is tight, guitar work inspired, and the raw vocal delivery really gives it...texture.
  17. Demo
    by Whiteman Monochrome
    Litany Litany
I love it when I stumble upon music that is laden with diverse influences, elements of which are prominent, but rendered in such a way that they play well together. I'm reluctant to slap a tag over this, as, musically, it's at the convergence of several genres, so...hopefully my describing it as blues-saturated stoner doom won't cause too many raised eyebrows. What is more important, I've really enjoyed the music. Particularly the atmosphere created. And that artwork is simply gorgeous!
  18. GREAT ELECTRIC QUEST "Madam Elbib"
    by Great Electric Quest
Ah, a promise of great things to come! So...what I want to know is: how soon is "pretty fucking soon"? ;-)
  19. TRIP WIZARD EP

    LAZY GREEN LAZY GREEN
Seeing this artwork triggered a reaction whereby my eyes lit up and my mouth began to water. I swear, it's Pavlovian. I am happy to report that, having listened to the music, I am satiated.
This stoner doom/sludge beast rose in the UK. And it's coming for you.

Sacred Moon Cult Sacred Moon Cult
And now for something I have been obsessing over for quite a while now! (Occult-themed) Stoner doom boasting a variety of influences, cutting a generous swath across the genres, maintaining fluidity throughout and resulting in what can only be described as complete awesomeness. Needless to say, I absolutely love this release. Lend an ear, wonderful people of Bandcamp, and you will, too! :-)
